When you select Sorenson as your default provider, you'll be connected to the best suite of VRS Services available.

Sorenson Communications is constantly adding new free services and features that work seamlessly with our videophones. The services below are only available for people who Get Connected to SVRS.

There are many ways to Get Connected to SVRS:

  • If you don't have a videophone, you can apply for one here. Applying for and receiving a VP-200 videophone automatically selects Sorenson as your default provider.
  • If you already have a VP-200, you can choose Sorenson by completing the Get Connected wizard or by calling our customer information group at 800-659-4781
  • If you have chosen another provider as your default but would like to move to Sorenson, either select the Get Connected button on the VP-200 you use or call our customer information group at 800-659-4781

Real Numbers

Sorenson offers you two real numbers: a local 10-digit number and a Direct VP number.

Hearing people are no longer required to dial the 1-866-FAST-VRS number and then tell the interpreter the videophone number they wish to call. A real number makes it possible for anyone to dial a single phone number and the call will go directly to the Sorenson videophone you use!

Local 10-digit numbers have an area code that matches your geographic address. With a local 10-digit number, you can:

  • List this number on your resume and forms
  • Use this number when purchasing on-line

Direct VP numbers are free of charge for hearing callers from anywhere in the country. With a Direct VP number, you can:

  • Put one contact number on forms for your accountant, bank, boss, childcare provider, doctor's office, school, mechanic, vet, and more
  • Keep your same number even if you move

Using SVRS for Emergency 911 Calls

If you have chosen Sorenson VRS as your default provider and have updated your address, the location of the videophone will be automatically sent to the interpreter and save valuable time. You can trust Sorenson when you need help fast.

To place a 911 VRS call with a videophone, simply enter 911 in the Dial field and select Enter with your videophone's remote control.

Contact Lists

Use the contact lists to easily and quickly reach your family, friends, and business contacts. With just a few clicks you can review your call history, redial a recent call, or set up your own speed dials so Sorenson VRS can connect you to your contacts within seconds!

In rare cases, you might have a problem making or receiving Sorenson VRS calls. No need to worry because Sorenson's Technical Support team is ready to help you. Extensive Outreach and Customer Training Programs

Sorenson has experienced outreach professionals to provide service, support, and training one-on-one in your home! Sorenson also has a tele-education group specifically designed to help you learn about how to use the videophone and which features and services can help make your life easier. This group places VP-to-VP calls to you to answer any questions you have and make sure your experience with the videophone is a positive one.

SignMail

When you are not available to answer the videophone you use, SignMail® allows Sorenson VRS (SVRS) interpreters to leave signed video messages for you when a hearing caller attempts to call you. When you receive a SignMail message, an e-mail notification is sent to the e-mail account of your choice. Optional notifications through MSN Messenger, AIM, or pager e-mail are also available. The notification e-mail provides a link to your SignMail message, allowing you to view it on a computer.

Call Waiting

Call Waiting makes it possible for you to answer an incoming call on your Sorenson VP-200—even when you are already in a call. You can switch between the two calls with just a click of a button with your VP-200 remote!

Only when you connect to Sorenson VRS do you receive the Sorenson Gold Services that make your communications so easy. Sorenson gives you the best services and features behind the videophone.

FREE VIDEOPHONE

Sorenson provides you with free VRS equipment consisting of a Sorenson VP-200 videophone and the hardware needed to hook the videophone to your Internet connection. Sorenson will install the videophone and train you how to use it, right in your own home or business.

To get your videophone, you must be deaf or hard-of-hearing, use sign language, and have a high-speed Internet connection.

The Sorenson VP-200 will automatically check for updates to its software and install any available updates. This remote updating ability means that the VP-200 will provide new features and services without requiring a visit to your home or office from service personnel.
